All employees of the bulk water authorities and local council employees who spent over 60 per cent of their time on water and sewerage services were transferred to the new corporations.
Council employees who spent less than 60 per cent of their time on water and sewerage services were invited to consider transferring.
All transferred employees are guaranteed to transfer with no-detriment for 12 months. In other words, their current conditions will be honoured for 12 months before agreements or contracts are renewed.
It is anticipated that the reform of the industry will create exciting employment opportunities, both for those currently in the industry and others considering it in the future.
