Water reform
As of 1 July 2009, four new corporations have taken over the management of the Tasmanian water and sewerage sector.
Three of these corporations ‑ one each for the north, south and north-west – are responsible for sourcing, treating and supplying drinking water, and for removing, treating and disposing of wastewater.
From now on, all of Tasmania’s reticulated towns – from Flinders Island to the Huon Valley – will be cared for by their new local water corporation.
